7 Gout – it’s just not funny

People laugh when you say you have gout – but it’s not funny at all! It hurts so much and it stops effective sleep! Can I enjoy a drink sometimes? Do I really have to avoid eating my favourite foods like shellfish and lambs fry? Surely there’s a better way!

    Hello. I am 86. Recently suffered gout in left 1st toe, then 2nd toe.Iinflammed, swollen, painful toe and ankle. Xray of foot. Moderate osteo between bases of 1st/2nd metatarsals. No erosions or arthropathy to suggest chronic gout.. Some arthritis. eGFR 54. Urate: 0.42. Prescribed Prednisolone 25mg. It did help. Also Indocin.But only for 3 days. Then after 10 days another dose. have been going to a Physio 4 sessions who gives Electric tense machine placement on leg with massage. Hasn’t done much. Has now been 4 continuous months. Dr. Says uric acid crystals not beinbg eliminated. have followed your radio advice: Vitamin C. Tumeric. Bananas. Apple cider vinegar etc. Don’t eat rubbish. exercise. Don’t smoke. Drink glass of red wine with dinner but no other alcohol. Any suggestions that might help, please. Thank you.
